Casa Guaceto

Casa Guaceto is a family of modern buildings in an ancient setting close to the Adriatic. Guests are indulged indoors and out by inspirational architecture and landscaping that is sensitive to its exquisite location.

Casa Guaceto is a contemporary five-bedroom villa on the edge of the Torre Guaceto National Park on the Adriatic coast. The property was recently built using local materials and modern techniques to a small ecological footprint. Puglia is rich in history, art and traditions and the villa’s design is mindful of this. Taking influences from near and far, the property’s four buildings, its pool and landscaped garden fit together in an easy manner thanks to judicious choices of colour, planting and materials.

Every detail has been carefully chosen, from the shaded loggias to the seamless concrete floor that stretches inside and out. Rich, earthy colours soften the lines and the whiteness, while windows and doors are big cut-outs that echo the shapes outside such as the pool. North African influences mix with modern minimalism to create a welcoming, comfortable and cohesive house where guests can party together or seek a shady lounge spot in which to curl up with a book. It ticks every box that a holiday house should.

Ten guests are accommodated in five bright, welcoming and comfy en-suite doubles: two rooms are in the main building, two in the guest house and one in the annex. Living spaces have industrial concrete floors and the endless views out of the huge windows soften the building and encourage guests to live as much outside as in, all in immense comfort.

While the house and pool and the pull of al-fresco lunches and dinners is enough to entertain guests, it would be a shame not to venture further to explore the pretty, rocky coves of the Adriatic coast, as well as the beautiful towns and villages that dot this part of Italy’s heel.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

The villa has five double bedrooms across three of its four buildings. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the main building, two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the guesthouse and a further en-suite double in the annex. Modern and minimal in design, they are furnished with deep comfort in mind.

Bathrooms

The bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom with high-performance fixtures and fittings. There is also an outdoor shower near the pool.

Kitchen

Located in the main building, the large, light kitchen has an entire wall that opens up seamlessly onto a terrace with a view to the olive groves beyond. A natural colour palette reflects the surroundings, while the long island has been built from poured concrete, the same material as the floors and the terrace outside. Expertly equipped with all the appliances and gadgets that guests need, there is a waterfall dining table that comfortably seats everybody, placed in front of the open wall to take in the view.

Living rooms

Built to embrace the climate, the villa’s living room is in the main building facing the pool and has huge pivot windows and doors to the outside. Guests can relax in here away from the heat of the summer months, or as a warm spot with its fire in the cooler months. Outside, a built-in bench with cushions and other easy chairs are set under the vine-covered pergola for guests to relax in the shade or they can seek out a sun lounger by the pool or float on an inflatable double lounger in the pool itself.

Sculptural cactus are planted alongside a hanging vine which shades the outdoor living area, while steps lead up to the roof terraces with their expansive views. Terraces are smooth to walk on barefoot and there is space for everyone to come together as well as to enjoy a spot of privacy. The outside kitchen includes a wood-fired pizza oven and a BBQ.
