Torrantica
A unique use of old materials for a house that makes cosiness its key point .
This former watch tower out of the 14th century near Lake Trasimeno was meticulously restored by the current owners. Over the centuries the upper part of the tower has been dismantled and transformed into a residential building with additions over time to create, albeit accidental, an architecturally interesting farmhouse with varying roof levels – and each has a story to tell. The latest restoration works were carried out with original and reclaimed materials to create an authentic rustic feel but with all the comforts of modern living and it was completed in 2000. The beautiful arched entrance leads to the almost 40 m² eat-in kitchen with a stone fireplace, Ilve stove and Francesco di Maio hand painted tiles. The kitchen forms the central hub of this exceptional property. The layout offers 3, 4 or even 5 bedrooms depending on requirements. The covered pergola is the perfect outdoor eating space for 14 people and the orangery is a bright, airy reading room of 25 m². The mature gardens feature a planted arched walkway to an intimate pergola which takes in the sunset, olive groves, cypress trees and a gravel path to the swimming pool with a bathroom, relaxation area and connections for a sauna. The swimming pool was added in 2007, including the storage area and technical room below the pool. Altogether a perfectly maintained property in a peaceful position with great character and a feeling of homely warmth.
