Art

This elegant, modern villa is an aesthete’s paradise, balancing and celebrating the beauty of both the landscape and human creativity

Art is beautiful proof that modern brutalism can sit harmoniously in an ancient landscape and offer guests an unparalleled level of comfort, artistry and simplicity within a private property.

Designed for year-round living, the house makes the most of its setting, the pale façade diffusing the soft Puglian light. Every angle and view looking into the house and out from it has been considered as if for framing and the influence of different artists and movements is captured in myriad ways from various viewpoints.

A liveable gallery, the house mixes form with function: there’s an expertly equipped stainless steel kitchen and the four en-suite bedrooms are spacious, pared back and refined, each with a sea view. It’s a house for those seeking something different, without compromising on luxury, privacy and the social fun of a holiday villa.

There is a pool the same colour as the sea glinting on the near horizon, as well as an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven. Guests won’t tire of the house, the garden, nor the artworks, but if they want a temporary change of scene, the towns and villages of the Itria Valley and the beautiful Adriatic coastline are just moments away.

Rooms description

Bathrooms

Each bedroom has an en-suite shower room.

Kitchen

The stainless-steel kitchen is expertly equipped and perfectly in keeping with the brutalist architecture. Even this room is used as a gallery for original artwork. Breakfast is available every day, if guests would like, and a chef can be arranged for a one-off celebration or to cater for an entire stay.

Living rooms

Steel-framed, floor-to-ceiling doors and windows wrap around three sides of the open-plan living and dining room which is furnished with a carefully chosen edit of designer pieces. Every corner of living space has been meticulously designed and curated for guests’ enjoyment and entertainment.

Outside

The property sits in extensive private grounds amongst the olive groves just outside Ostuni and within sight of the sea. Steel steps lead up to the roof while in the garden a concrete-surround pool matches the brutalist architecture of the house, as does the carefully considered landscaping. There are various terraces in both shade and sun, for eating, sleeping and socialising, including an outdoor kitchen and dining area with a pizza oven. The artistic genius of the architecture and landscaping is that, in spite of its brutalist nature, it sits surprisingly gently in the Puglian countryside.

Activities

The Adriatic is visible from the house and the breathtaking beaches, stunningly clear water and natural beauty of the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve are worth exploring - it’s also possible to rent a boat, with or without a skipper. Alternatively, guests can drive a bit further in an easterly direction to the golden beaches of the Ionian coast. Lovely Ostuni is practically on the doorstep so head here and to the other surrounding towns to admire the beautiful baroque architecture before enjoying the weekly or monthly food and antiques markets and the wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops. This part of Puglia is particularly well known for its wonderful wines, especially red and rosé, with grapes such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Susumaniello and tastings and tours of vineyards, as well as olive groves, are possible. For a round of golf, head to San Domenico, at Savelletri di Fasano, just half an hour away.

Prior to arrival, your villa will have been fully sanitised, including all surfaces, objects, kitchen items, curtains, sofas, throws, pillows, toys, and in and around the pool. You are welcome to ask for a detailed list of the entire cleaning procedure we do after each departure and before welcoming new guests to the property.

The owner of this house has complied with the following standards:

  • To ensure the necessary information concerning social distancing and the use of masks is available to all guests
  • To guarantee availability of and accessibility to hand hygiene systems with hydro-alcoholic solutions and soaps in all inside areas of, and pertaining to, the villa

  • For air conditioning systems: to guarantee the air re-circulation function is switched off and, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the plant in off-mode, to clean the air filters of the heating/cooling plants that use heat pumps, fan coils and convectors, at the end of each stay
