Casa Indigo

Located in the heart of the glorious Valle d’Itria, Casa Indigo provides a relaxing and beautiful base from which to explore the towns, villages and coastline of this olive- and citrus-strewn Puglian plateau

Located in the heart of the Itria Valley, not far from the hilltop white town of Ostuni and the clear water and rocky coves of the Adriatic, lies this eight-coned, blue-painted property, surrounded by Mediterranean planting.

There is a little something for everyone at Casa Indigo, where authentic architecture has been sympathetically renovated to suit the needs of the 21st century guest. A seamless flow of indoor and outdoor spaces is at its heart and six guests are comfortably accommodated in three double en-suite rooms, with space for one more on a sofabed in the living area of the main bedroom.

Lofty showers make the most of the height and shape of the trulli cones while pretty alcoves are used for seating, shelving and bedheads. The whitewashed interiors, pale wood doors, smooth stone floors and linen curtains are cool and calm, delivering on the idea that to live simply is to live well.

A large pool, shaded dining table and outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired oven are a magnet to outside. Guests will want to explore the fabulous locale that is rich in culture, coastline and cuisine, and yet Indigo is a property they will be glad to retreat to.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

There are three en-suite bedrooms decorated with the same light simplicity as the rest of the property. With plenty of height, the rooms feel spacious and airy, and the architectural features are put to clever use with arches forming headboard niches and bathrooms occupying the trulli cones. The principal bedroom has its own sitting room with a single sofa bed.

Bathrooms

The en-suite shower rooms all have high-spec fixtures and fittings where the layout is dictated by the quirkiness of the space. Niches, trulli cones and alcoves house basins and showers, highlighting these beautiful architectural features

Kitchen

The kitchen has been neatly placed within one of the property’s long, high arched vaults and has stunning views of the pool and grounds. The four-burner gas hob and sink have been cleverly slotted into an alcove, and double doors lead out to the garden at one end. A pretty shuttered window, shelving and the wall-mounted oven occupy the other end, while a dining table that seats eight is positioned lengthways. Simple decoration comes in the form of a beautiful pale stone floor, whitewashed brick walls and rustic wooden shelving. A simple yet fabulous summer kitchen with a wood-fired oven is situated next to the shaded outside dining table, between the pool and the main property.

Living rooms

The living area makes use of the property’s architecture with seating arranged in an alcove and the same beautiful tiled floor, white washed walls and simple styling creating a wonderfully calm space. Outside, a huge corner sofa by the pool, plus sun loungers and an outside dining area cover all bases, allowing guests the space to relax on their own or in the company of others while enjoying the scents, sounds and sights of the garden.

Accessibility

Outside

The approach to Casa Indigo takes guests through citrus and olive groves, past stone walls and through an electric gate where there is plenty of parking space away from the house. The low-lying house and outdoor kitchen sit in a Mediterranean garden where paths and paved terraces lead through the outdoor spaces and connect to the indoor ones. The large pool sits within the sightline of a glazed door from the kitchen and a corner sofa as well as sun loungers provide an al fresco sitting room. The garden design reflects the importance of the outside space where lavender and citrus trees offer beautiful fragrance to match the tranquil views.

Notes

In the veggie garden just outside the entrance there are more than 10 types of BIO vegetables and fruits where the guests can pick and enjoy responsibly during the stay.

Prior to arrival, your villa will have been fully sanitised, including all surfaces, objects, kitchen items, curtains, sofas, throws, pillows, toys, and in and around the pool. You are welcome to ask for a detailed list of the entire cleaning procedure we do after each departure and before welcoming new guests to the property.

The owner of this house has complied with the following standards:

  • For air conditioning systems: to guarantee the air re-circulation function is switched off and, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the plant in off-mode, to clean the air filters of the heating/cooling plants that use heat pumps, fan coils and convectors, at the end of each stay
