The approach to Masseria Marfa Carbina is through rich green olive groves growing in deep red soil which contrast perfectly with the white and soft grey stone of this restored property.

Renovated with meticulous attention to the historic and traditional details of the original building, the masseria offers a peaceful, spacious and comfortable single-storey stay for up to 15 guests.

Natural materials and earthy colours prevail inside, along with big picture windows that constantly draw attention outwards to the soft landscape. An understated kitchen is open plan with the dining space and the sitting area, which has built-in sofas with a North African feel. These rooms are replicated outside in the shade of the loggias that surround the courtyard garden with its inviting central pool. The outdoor kitchen has a wood-fired oven and a magnificent stone sink.

With air conditioning and underfloor heating, this is a house with enough comfort, space and privacy to gather a large group of friends and family at any time of the year. Each corner is designed to reflect the timeless beauty of Salento and it is the perfect base from which to discover the delightful towns and villages of the Itria Valley, as well as the beautiful Adriatic coast just half an hour away.

Bedrooms

The villa has six double bedrooms, three of which have single daybeds - perfect for extra guests or as somewhere to curl up with a book. Decorated in natural tones to complement the vast views from the picture windows, the rooms are calm and inviting spaces with individual details such a desk or bookcase. Each room has doors out to the terrace.

Bathrooms

There are six bathrooms that are decorated in natural colours and materials with high-quality fixtures and fittings. There’s an outdoor shower by the pool and an outdoor tub by Agape.

Kitchen

The kitchen is open plan with the dining table and the sitting area beyond. It’s beautifully understated with simple clean lines in soft colours, and expertly equipped. There’s an outdoor kitchen, too, with a wood-burning pizza oven and a long dining table in the shade.

Living rooms

The living room has built-in sofas and benches and windows on either side with doors to the courtyard garden and the outdoor sitting room. Here, there are further comfy sofas as well as an outdoor fireplace.

Outside

The garden at Masseria Marfa Carbina is contained within a vast courtyard, the double entrance to which is flanked by a pair of mature olive trees. There is plenty of shaded parking available to guests and once through the gates you will see the raised pool in the middle, surrounded by double lounge beds. A dining loggia has a long table that can seat up to 18, while a spacious and comfortable outdoor sitting room with a fireplace takes up another wall. The outdoor kitchen has a wood-fired oven and there’s a small, fragrant citrus grove with an outdoor bath by the Italian brand Agape, as well as a shower by the pool.

June, July & August min stay is 7 nights, all other months min stay is 3 nights. In High season Check-in are on Saturdays from 16:00. All other months flexible arrivals.

The Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve and the breathtaking beaches of the Adriatic are a half-hour-drive from the villa. The property is also close to lots of interesting towns and villages with a wide choice of restaurants, bars, shops, antiques markets and stunning Baroque architecture. There are vineyards and olive groves where tastings and tours are possible and for a round of golf, the nearest course is San Domenico, at Savelletri di Fasano, 33km away.

Masseria Marfa Carbina sits amongst olive groves outside Carovigno and just 6km from Ostuni, one of the most well-known of the magical white towns of the Itria Valley. Discover its restaurants, maze of small streets and market stalls, likewise Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica and Cisternino, or head to the trulli villages of Alberobello and Locorotondo. The property is just half an hour from the crystal-clear water and rocky coves of the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve on the Adriatic coast. To the north is Polignano a Mare (54km), a town built on limestone cliffs where its famous viewpoint, the Balconata sul Mare, offers incredible sea views and is home to occasional high-octane cliff-diving competitions. Discover coastal Monopoli (47km) with its Baroque castle and cathedral, or head down the coast to Lecce (79km), otherwise known as the Florence of the south, which is cited as one of the most beautiful cities in the south of Italy and heralded for its Baroque splendour.
