Terraquieta
The property’s impeccable design perfectly showcases the magical light and colours of the Puglian landscape
Terraquieta is an irresistible mix of traditional and contemporary architecture, polished by exquisite design, sitting in a tranquil and private spot in this ancient landscape.
The main villa is built of local stone and houses three double bedrooms as well as the living and dining room, and the kitchen. With doors to the garden on either side of the building and steps up to the roof, guests can pick between sun and shade throughout the day. The traditional four-cone trulli houses the principal suite, with a double bed in a niche and room for a further guest on a single bed, along with a shower room, living space and kitchenette.
The design is perfectly executed using local, natural materials and a soft, mostly monochrome palette. The Puglian light is justly famous and the colours of the landscape deep and rich, both celebrated by the layout of Terraquieta, inside and out.
An infinity pool with improbably lovely views has a shaded dining table and outdoor kitchen next to it and you’d be forgiven for spending your days going from yellow-cushioned sunlounger, to pool, to dining in the shade, on repeat.
However, the property is just ten minutes west of Ostuni and not much further from Cisterno and Ceglie Messapica, three of the white towns of the Itria Valley, and with easy access to the coast you will want to take the time to explore this beguiling area deep in Italy’s heel.
