La Vista

A celebration of materials and location, this incredible villa is a triumph of cutting-edge comfort and design

La Vista is a light-filled villa for six with incredible views of Noto and the coast. A modern Brutalist beauty, it sits in an elevated position on a site from where the precious stone used to build the baroque masterpieces of the Val di Noto was quarried.

The villa is both dramatic and comfortable. Flooded with light from its vast windows and clever interplay of shapes and openings, it’s a place that encourages exploration, revealing the genius of both its design and its setting from every angle.

Built into the rocky hillside, the living space is on the top floor and the three ensuite bedrooms are on the floor below, all with floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside, the pool and hydrotherapy tub are on a higher terrace with dramatic views and the outdoor living and dining spaces follow the natural sweep of the rock.

La Vista is a thrilling story of high-end design, exciting architecture and extreme comfort, with the glistening beauty of Noto and the coastal landscape set out before you. Noto itself is a must, likewise Ragusa and Modica, and for beaches, head to nearby Lido di Noto or to the wild, unspoilt places within the Vendicari Nature Reserve.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

The three en-suite bedrooms are on the lower floor. They have queen-size beds, original artwork, USB wall sockets and floor-to-ceiling picture windows that frame the astonishing sea view.

Bathrooms

The shower rooms were designed by Antonio Lupi using environmentally responsible lava stone tiles and high-performance fixtures and fittings. There is an outdoor shower as well.

Kitchen

The kitchen and dining areas are on the first floor of the house and separated from the living space by the staircase down to the bedrooms. Framed on two sides by floor-to-ceiling windows, there is a dining table that seats eight and a professionally equipped kitchen with an island and a wall of units.

Living rooms

The living area of the main room has a six-seater sofa from which you can either watch the sea view out of the floor-to-ceiling windows, or the 77” Smart OLED TV. The interior design of the villa is by Molteni and integrates harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, giving guests lots of space to comfortably relax.

Other rooms

There is a laundry and tech room, as well as a guest bathroom.

Outside

The villa is built on the site of an ancient quarry and the landscaping pays homage to this history. The entrance to the villa is either by a door into the hillside or by a path that leads up and round the side of the house, through a rocky, Mediterranean garden that is beautifully lit at night. The (12m x 5m) infinity pool and hydromassage tub are on a terrace cut out of the rock, above the house. There is a shallow ‘beach’ shelf that runs the length of the pool, enabling guests to lounge in the water, taking in the view. The shaded outdoor living space is carved into the rock outside the first floor of the house. Furniture from Houe includes an eight-seater dining table, sofas, sun loungers and armchairs. There is a BBQ, a brazier and even an ice chest on wheels. The star of the show, however, remains the view.

Notes

Please be aware that there are steep banks, steps and drops in the garden of this property and children should not be left by themselves on any of the outside terraces, including by the pool.
