Villa Mazzaforno

A magnificent restoration has returned Sixties design flair to this white-washed villa with its wraparound terrace, bringing with it modern comforts

Villa Mazzoforno is an incredible seafront villa perched above a private beach just outside Cefalù, a delightful little harbour town on Sicily’s north coast, just under an hour from Palermo.

The main house sleeps eight in four double bedrooms. An immaculately restored Sixties design villa, it has a wraparound terrace on both the ground and first floors with interiors that sing with geometric patterns, mid-century furniture, Sicilian tiles and a fabulous combination of space and light. It is movie-set perfect, both inside and out, with views of and direct access to the Tyrrhenian Sea.

A house for all seasons, the warmer months will find guests drawn outside to the vast terrace with its ringside seat on the sea. The underfloor heating and fireplace offer cosiness and warmth in the cooler months while the view remains captivating all year round.

The property is just ten minutes by car from the wonderful town of Cefalù with its Norman cathedral and pretty harbour, and Palermo is less than an hour away. It's a showstopper of a villa with film-worthy looks and real-world comfort – the perfect place for those seeking an authentic Sicilian stay.

Rooms description

There are four double bedrooms upstairs, all of which have doors out to the wraparound covered terrace, and views of the sea. Geometric patterns, a Sixties-inspired colour palette of sea greens, blues and taupe, billowing linen curtains and fabulous Sicilian tiles add colour and texture to the spacious rooms, as do the big, comfy beds and linen sheets.

There are five bathrooms in total, four upstairs attached to the bedrooms, and a guest one downstairs. All with showers, one has a bath, as well. Sixties coastal cool is picked up in the geometric designs that include portholes and the same colour scheme as the bedrooms, with modern fixtures and fittings. There is a shower outside.

The villa has a neat kitchen with a long rectangular pivot window that will distract you with its view. Superbly equipped, it opens onto the dining area although, with such impressive sea views, for most of the year guests will probably choose to dine outside on the terrace.

Living rooms

The house’s large living room has doors to the terrace on two sides and the same mesmerising sea views. Large hexagonal floor tiles match the Sixties-inspired furniture which offers plenty of places to sit and relax. If you prefer lounging to the soundtrack of waves lapping against the shore, there are plenty of chair and sun-lounger choices outside.

Other rooms

There is a laundry room on the ground floor.

House cleaning every 3 days (or daily on request).

air conditioning, espresso machine, sonos music system, hob/stove, oven, fridge, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, satellite TV, television, wifi, central heating, high chair

This property is not specifically suited to less mobile guests

Villa Mazzoforno sits directly above the sea and has private access to the beach below via steps carved into the rock. The large terrace offers a ringside seat for the spectacular sun rises and sun sets and all sea-related activity in-between, and has all the right chairs, loungers and sofas from which to admire the view, as well as a dining table, an outside shower and a 6m2 Jacuzzi. There is private parking and olive trees surround the property while the wraparound upstairs terrace can be accessed from every bedroom.

The stairs in the villa are open-sided and not ideal for small children. This property can be rented together with Le Cementine to create a property for 12 and can be found here under Mazzoforno Grande. Please note that the caretaker lives in a separate property on site and is available to help answer any questions from guests whose privacy is guaranteed.
