Casa Vittorino

Recently built in a traditional style, the rustic elegance of this villa extends to the beautifully landscaped terrace, pool and garden

Casa Vittorino lies in an exquisite location in the Umbrian hills not far from Gubbio. The careful design of the property allows it to augment and not detract from its fabulous position, making the most of the panoramic views.

The L-shaped single-storey property has traditional cotto floor and ceiling tiles along with wooden beams which celebrate the local vernacular. The light yet cosy interiors make it a perfect place from which to explore this part of Umbria throughout the year.

The private, heated pool surrounded by loungers is set just below the house in beautifully landscaped gardens which celebrate the stunning vistas stretching to the Apennines. Guests have shared use of a tennis court and can pick nuts, fruit and vegetables straight from the garden.

If you like to mix rural tranquility with culture, the medieval town of Gubbio is less than ten minutes’ drive away.  This being the foodie heart of Italy means you are never far away from a fabulous restaurant that celebrates the amazing local produce.

This is a property that is designed with the sole purpose of offering family and friends the opportunity to fully relax and recharge in a breathtakingly beautiful setting.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

There are three en-suite bedrooms, all with cotto floors and beautifully decorated in chalky colours and with high-quality bed linen.
The main bedroom has a super-king-size bed and a small seating area for two. A large stone arch leads through to the bathroom and both rooms have doors to the terrace with fabulous views down the valley. The second bedroom has a super-king-size bed and the third bedroom has a king-size bed.

Bathrooms

All three of the bedrooms are en-suite with the principal room having a bathroom that is of a similar size to the bedroom and connected by a wide stone arch. A fabulous freestanding silver bath makes the most of the exquisite view. The other two en-suites are shower rooms, all with high-quality fixtures and fittings.

Kitchen

This is a modern iteration of a traditional farmhouse kitchen, with a big wooden table seating six taking centre stage, from where guests can lose themselves in the view through the open doors at one end. The kitchen is expertly equipped with a gas-fired hob, electric oven, a wine fridge, a fridge/freezer, bread maker, slow cooker and a food processor. The run of wooden cupboards provides perfect storage and a wide stone arch leads through to the sitting room. Special Umbria is able to arrange a private chef on request.

Living rooms

The large yet cosy living room has four comfy armchairs and a huge leather sofa. Doors to the garden can let in a gentle breeze in the heat of summer while a woodburning stove provides heat in the cooler months. A Sonos music system and a smart TV with an Amazon fire stick means guests can log into their own media accounts, and enjoy their favourite films and music. The traditional proportions and materials are matched with modern comfort and design resulting in an elegant space to socialise and relax.

Other rooms

In the warmer months the terrace provides a second living room. The seating area has two large sofas with squishy cushions and a coffee table. A dining table for eight is in a shaded spot under the pergola and the views are ravishing!

Hugging a gentle slope and approached through gates along a cypress-lined drive, there is parking for six cars. Three acres of private land surround the house: two are given over to an olive grove with wild-flower meadows while the third acre is a fabulous, landscaped garden with a fruit orchard, nut grove, vegetable patch and small vineyard. The property’s beautiful design means that almost all the rooms have doors to outside and the terrace makes an excellent summer living space with its two large and comfortable sofas and its shaded dining table for eight. A charcoal ceramic BBQ can be used for grilling or smoking food and even for cooking pizzas. A shared tennis court is a short walk away while the private heated (on request) pool is set on a terrace below the house and has incredible views towards Gubbio. Six sunloungers and two cantilevered umbrellas make it a lovely spot to read a book, sleep or chat.
