Casale di Monticello
A pastel-coloured villa that offers both seclusion and convenience, as well as some of the loveliest views in Umbria
Casale di Monticello sits proudly on an Umbrian hilltop, not far from Todi, its secluded location offering guests a welcome stillness as well as particularly impressive views.
Once a monastery, then a farmhouse, the house’s rich history and soft welcoming feel has been retained in its most recent renovation. On the outside, vanilla-coloured external walls and sage green shutters set the house apart from its far-distant neighbours while inside, the Scandi-influenced design is simple and sophisticated, with tiled cotto floors, fireplaces and wooden ceiling beams rooting the building firmly in Umbria.
Set over different floors and levels, the white-painted rooms are flooded with light. Outside, there’s a large dining terrace in the shade of mature fig trees, and a separate smaller one that’s perfect for an espresso or aperitivo, both with breathtaking views. Thanks to the scenery, there’s no need for a TV, although of course there is one. Instead, head to the 12m pool and gaze at this lovely landscape from the water or from the comfort of a lounger.
Surrounded by medieval towns and cities, nature and culture sit side by side in this beautiful villa that’s the perfect retreat for a group of friends or extended family.
