La Selva
La Selva, with its spacious villa, gorgeous garden guest house and stunning pool, is the perfect property from which to discover this beautiful pocket of Umbria
La Selva, which was designed and built by the SpecialUmbria team in 2020, sits on the wooded slopes of the rolling Umbrian hills, surrounded by vineyards. A spacious property that sleeps up to 15 guests in glorious, rural privacy, it’s the perfect place to bring friends and family.
The accommodation spans the main villa, with five spacious en suite bedrooms, and the garden guest house, which has a large en-suite double on a mezzanine. This provides a delightful combination of space and privacy for a large party.
The house was built with stone from the original farmhouse and fuses old with new, handcrafted pieces with high-end design, simplicity with sophistication. A careful curation of lamps, rugs, ceramics and modern art from Sicily, Puglia and Morocco add colour and character to the beautifully proportioned rooms, while the deep comfort and tranquility of La Selva is reflected in the comments of previous guests. The house has both a cooling system and under-floor heating and is as welcoming in spring and summer as it is in autumn and winter.
Good food is integral to Umbria and La Selva’s kitchen is expertly equipped. Guests can cook for themselves, or we can arrange a private chef for your entire stay or for one-off celebrations. And with excellent food, comes delicious wine. The property is not far from the lovely towns of Montefalco and Bevagna, famous for their oak-aged Sagrantino wines, the lighter Rosso di Montefalco and Grecchetto, a fresh white.
Sip the spoils of your tasting session outside where the landscaping and planting has been as carefully planned as the interiors. There are two verandas for al fresco dining, a shaded lounge spot by the 12mx4m heated pool and numerous other places to curl up with a book or chat. The garden guest house has a sitting room on the ground floor, as well as a bathroom and a kitchen, which serve the pool area.
La Selva is accessed by a typical ‘white’ road and has plenty of parking. There is rarely more than a single car or tractor that passes by in a day, guaranteeing privacy. The nearest village is just a short drive away and the glorious hilltop town of Todi is close by.
