Le Sorelle

Le Sorelle is full of timeless Tuscan charm. The exquisite house and garden make relaxing and unwinding an art form.

Not far from the Versilian coast, in the green hills outside Lucca, lies Le Sorelle. Restored by the Special Tuscany team in 2018, the house has been brought bang up to date while retaining its immense charm and original features.

Beautiful cotto floors and high wooden ceilings in perfectly proportioned rooms combine with a soft colour palette, natural linen fabrics and handmade furniture to create a spacious yet warm interior. Views of the garden, olive groves and the Tuscan hills are visible from every window, while outside, the garden, with its salt-water pool, opens up different spaces for eating, sitting and relaxing, offering sun and shade alike.

Lucca, one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, is just 14km from Le Sorelle, the coast is 17km away and Pisa airport is 30km from the house. The nearest shops and restaurants are only five minutes away.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

Le Sorelle has three double en suite bedrooms upstairs. Downstairs is a smaller room, ideal for one adult or two children, with views over the garden and an open-plan shower room. All the rooms are designed with both form and function in mind – they are air-conditioned and the deeply comfortable beds are made up with beautiful cool linens. There are mosquito coverings on the windows and plenty of storage space.

Bathrooms

All the rooms have a private shower room. The showers’ simple resin floors and walls are matched by modern stainless steel fittings. Please note, there are no baths in this property.

Kitchen

The clean white lines of the modern kitchen sit effortlessly in their traditional setting. An island houses the sink and five-burner gas hob, while the oven is in the bank of units behind. Light and airy with double doors on both sides, leading towards the pool or the outside dining tables, there is plenty of room to sit on the bar stools and chat or for everyone to cook together. Well equipped and with Smeg appliances, this is a kitchen that you will want to spend time in.

Living rooms

The kitchen, dining room and sitting room flow into each other but each retain their own character and space. The central dining room is simple yet sophisticated, making use of natural materials. The living area is cosy and elegant with a white linen corner sofa and comfortable armchairs, all brought together with richly textured fabrics in soft colours, art, lighting and coffee table books to lose yourself in.

Outside

The gardens at Le Sorelle wrap around the house and blend in with the surrounding hills and olive groves. Palm trees, bamboo, cypress and olive trees provide a rich, green background. There are three terraces cleverly designed to benefit from the sun and the shade. At the back of the house with doors from the kitchen lies the walled garden with a dining table under the pergola, a BBQ area and a sitting spot in the shade of a centuries-old oak tree. At the front of the house, near the former entrance gate, are low, comfortable cushioned chairs and a big parasol. Or, there are sun loungers by the pool looking out to the wooded hills beyond.

Leisure & Activities

Activities

While you could happily while away all your time in the house and gardens, there is so much to do nearby. Le Sorelle is located on the famous la strade del vino e dell’olio (wine and olive oil route) that you can drive or bike along, visiting the vineyards, olive groves and historic villas en route. Trips to the beach and the coastal town of Forte dei Marmi, or to Pietrasanta, Bargo, and Borgo a Mozzano are all easy, as are excursions to Pinocchio Parc or one of the water parks if you have children to entertain. Simply Tuscany can help you plan walks, bike rides, horse rides, rafting, a jeep tour through marble quarries or even a canal cruise in Livorno. Information about all these places and more is available in the house.

Your villa and Covid-19

To prevent any possible spread of Covid-19 and to enable you to enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday, all our villas are cleaned to the highest standard possible, and according to the latest Italian health and safety regulations.

Perfect hygiene: to ensure an exceptional level of hygiene in all our villas, we’ve worked with our owners to create a Covid-19 villa management protocol. Based on recommendations from the World Health Organisation, and in compliance with current Italian national law, this protocol goes above and beyond our usual rigorous cleaning standards.

Prior to arrival, your villa will have been fully sanitised, including all surfaces, objects, kitchen items, curtains, sofas, throws, pillows, toys, and in and around the pool. You are welcome to ask for a detailed list of the entire cleaning procedure we do after each departure and before welcoming new guests to the property.

The owner of this house has complied with the following standards:

  • To ensure the necessary information concerning social distancing and the use of masks is available to all guests
  • To guarantee availability of and accessibility to hand hygiene systems with hydro-alcoholic solutions and soaps in all inside areas of, and pertaining to, the villa
  • To guarantee cleaning and disinfection of all areas according to national authority guidelines. Further information is available on request
  • For the swimming pool: to guarantee the efficacy of the water treatments, while respecting legal limits (the parameter for free active chlorine in the pool is between 1.0 – 1.5 mg/l; combined chlorine ≤ 0.40 mg/l; pH 6.5 – 7.5 or equivalent oxygen)
  • For air conditioning systems: to guarantee the air re-circulation function is switched off and, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the plant in off-mode, to clean the air filters of the heating/cooling plants that use heat pumps, fan coils and convectors, at the end of each stay
