Camastra
Sharp lines and smooth curves mix with beautiful tiles and local stone in this delightful three-bedroom villa for six
Camastra is the genius of a team of young architects from Milan. Their clean, calm design is a fresh take on the traditional properties of Puglia and offers a delightful retreat for a small group of family and friends.
Respectful of its fabulous setting in an ancient olive grove close to the glorious white towns of the Itria Valley, the property is separated into two buildings, with the linear suite of outside kitchen, dining and sitting ‘rooms’ set between the two, next to a beautiful pool. The flat-roofed larger building contains the three en-suite double bedrooms while the other houses the indoor kitchen and living room.
The original design is beautiful. A tribute to natural, local materials with a colour palette that reflects the olive trees and rich soil, the decoration is perfectly judged. A step up from minimalism, each piece has earned its place, creating a refreshing and interesting interior that is calming and restful, too.
Camastra is a brilliant stepping-off point for so much of what draws people to this fabulous corner of Italy. There are the baroque towns, the trulli villages and the magical coastline. It’s a foodie paradise and an antique hunter’s dream. It’s also the perfect place to rest and reset, which is what this exquisite villa was expressly designed for.
