Mura
A light and bright property that offers the best of both worlds: restaurants and bars on the doorstep and the sea just a ten-minute drive away
The bold new lines of this glorious townhouse sensitively bridge the gap between modern design and the house’s ancient setting in the centro storico of Muro Leccese, an authentic Puglian town close to the Adriatic.
The house’s arches and exterior zigzag staircase, warm stone walls and suntrap roof terraces don’t stray far from the town’s 16th century architecture. Guests are drawn in through a large white arch to the house, the pool and the delightful garden beyond, all created using local materials and talent.
The house sleeps ten in five bedrooms. The large, light rooms are painted white and decorated with original art from the owners’ private collection. Likewise, the furniture is a careful edit of designer and vintage pieces, light in mood and comfortable, too. The garden is wonderful and includes a large, shaded dining terrace, an outdoor kitchen, a long rectangular pool and a profusion of plants, trees and shrubs with views of the old town. It is a picture of everything you’d hope to find.
This is the perfect place to stay with friends or extended family. There are restaurants, cafes and bars just a short stroll away and the soft sand beaches of the Adriatic are ten minutes by car.
For bigger groups, including wedding parties and other celebrations, there are two sister properties also in Muro Leccese - Murole and Licce– each with their own pool. The three properties together can accommodate up to 40 guests.
