Murole

The gardens and pool of this fabulous and characterful property are a private haven just moments from lovely restaurants, bars and shops

This beautiful palazzo on a gorgeous square in the far south of Puglia is a magical place to gather a large group of family or friends.

The property, which dates back to the sixteenth century, is a harmonious blend of contemporary and traditional style, thanks to a clever restoration that has preserved many of the palazzo’s original features, mixing them with sleek modern finishes.

Built over two floors, the property has an internal courtyard, roof terraces a delightful garden with an outdoor kitchen and a long, thin pool. It’s a house that delights at every turn, mixing barrel-vaulted ceilings with large glass doors, stylish modern furniture with antique pieces, private corners with large social spaces, all decorated with art from the owners’ private collection.

There are four double and two large triple bedrooms, and seven bathrooms. The fully equipped kitchen has two smaller annex rooms and a further old-style kitchen. The magnificent dining room is light and bright with a large stone fireplace and a table that seats up to 16, while the living rooms offer plenty of space to relax and entertain.

The restaurants, shops and bars of Muro Leccese are a short stroll away and the coast is just ten minutes by car.

For bigger groups, including wedding parties, larger celebrations or retreats, it’s possible to rent Murole with Licce, the sister property next door. Both properties together can accommodate up to 30 guests. If rented together, joint access is available through the gardens.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

The five bedrooms include four doubles and two rooms with three single beds which makes this a fabulous place for family stays. White walls are hung with original artworks and furniture is a mixture of modern and vintage pieces. The principal double is downstairs while the rest of the rooms are upstairs. A couple of them have doors out onto a terrace.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms, like the bedrooms, are all individual and simple in design fitting into the old architecture of the building with high-spec fixtures and fittings. Three of them have baths, including the downstairs principal room where the large bath is raised up two steps that surround it on two sides and with a shower overhead.

Kitchen

Kitchen space is plentiful with one fully equipped one, two open pantries next door and an additional service kitchen. There is everything required to cook for large numbers, including two fridges. A farmhouse feel with a chequerboard floor and a large stone sink in one make it homely and individual. There is also an outdoor kitchen.

Living rooms

The main living room runs half the length of the adjacent 20m outdoor pool. A modern addition with traditional reference points such as the three double arched windows on the pool side of the room and the fireplace opposite, as well as the barrel-vaulted ceiling, it is painted white and has a mix of modern and vintage furniture and more of the owners’ art collection on display. The dining room is at the top end of the pool and has an enormous table that can seat up to 16 guests, with a large fireplace at one end for the cooler months.

Prior to arrival, your villa will have been fully sanitised, including all surfaces, objects, kitchen items, curtains, sofas, throws, pillows, toys, and in and around the pool. You are welcome to ask for a detailed list of the entire cleaning procedure we do after each departure and before welcoming new guests to the property.

  • For air conditioning systems: to guarantee the air re-circulation function is switched off and, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the plant in off-mode, to clean the air filters of the heating/cooling plants that use heat pumps, fan coils and convectors, at the end of each stay
