Trullo Lunette

A meticulous restoration has turned a simple dwelling into an exquisite retreat where guests are cosseted and charmed by the natural beauty both inside and out

Trullo Lunette lies in its own little valley in the heart of Puglia, set between old olive groves, cherry orchards and vineyards, close to the beaches of the Adriatic.

The exquisite renovation respects the architectural integrity of this historical building, cleverly utilising every niche, corner and curve to transform a humble dwelling into a luxurious retreat. Decorated simply with natural materials in a calming colour palette reflective of the landscape, this is a delightful and indulgent space for four to six guests. All the rooms are on the ground floor, with the exception of the mezzanine.

The landscaping around the trullo has been carried out with the same flair and respect, resulting in an outside kitchen and a large dining space, both shaded from the sun, where breakfast is prepped and laid out for guests every morning. A pool completes the picture.

The property is perfectly located so guests are able to max out their stay with trips to the beach clubs and lidos along the coast, visits to the pretty towns and villages of the Itria Valley, and wine tastings at some of the region’s most celebrated vineyards. If guests haven’t already eaten in one of the fabulous local restaurants, they can come zipping back to the comfort and charm of the trullo, and dine on the roof terrace with views of this beguiling landscape that stretch to the sea.

Rooms description

Bedrooms

LUNETTE – double bedroom suite
This delightful room is formed from the original trullo, with large windows that overlook the main courtyard and bathe the room in beautiful light. Soft muted colours and natural materials such as linen and wood accentuate the stunning cone roof, and an arched doorway leads through to the spacious en-suite. Here, there is a bath and the huge walk-in shower has plaster walls, while the stone basin sits on a repurposed vintage wooden table.

CILIEGETO – principal bedroom
This peaceful barrel-ceilinged suite is in the new part of the house that has been built using the same stone as the trullo. There is a large, super comfortable bed, blackout shutters, and a corner fireplace that can be used in the cooler months. Glazed double doors lead out to the room’s own private garden with an outdoor shower set against a beautiful curved wall built in local stone, an outdoor bath, and a seating area under a pergola. There is also an indoor shower and bath in the perfectly appointed en-suite.

MANSARDA – mezzanine
At the top of a custom-made spiral staircase from the living room is the Mansarda, a mezzanine loft that’s ideal for reading or for enjoying a siesta. The sofa converts to an additional queen-sized bed, perfect for older children and adult guests.

Living rooms

Originally a stable with a mezzanine level for grain storage, the larger of the original cones has been turned into a beautiful living area with a small handcrafted kitchen. Meticulous attention to detail and comfort has resulted in a curved, built-in bench seat that follows the lines of the trullo. Decorated in simple white with contrasting natural tans and browns, it is a beautiful place to relax away from the heat of the sun. A handcrafted metal spiral staircase leads up to the mezzanine, a private space with a sofa bed for two guests. Outside, there is a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table and plenty of seating areas.

Other rooms
