Velia

This impressive estate includes a large, pleasingly symmetrical, classical villa, a guest house in need of refurbishment and a private chapel, in a stunning country setting with a unique view of the medieval town of Orvieto.

Velia is a notable estate nestled in peaceful countryside with sweeping views towards the iconic hilltop town of Orvieto. Surrounded by 14 hectares of gently rolling, private land, at its heart is a quintessential Italianate villa that dates back to the 17th century. A separate annex and a private chapel complete the estate and together offer a rare opportunity to own a timeless piece of Umbria.

The main villa blends charm with elegance thanks to its symmetrical design, plastered façade and hand-painted frescos. Spacious, light-filled interiors and original architectural details reflect regional characteristics. The house underwent a significant restoration in 1966 and again in 2007 although few details were changed. Consequently, some of the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, are in need of modernisation.

Set apart from the main house is a three-bedroom annex in need of refurbishment. Full of potential, it offers ample space for a guest house, artist’s studio or additional accommodation. Next door is the estate’s private chapel - an historic building with interiors that feature marble and frescos. Atmospheric and pretty, it is ideal for events or simply to be enjoyed for its architectural merit.

Velia is ideal as a private residence, a holiday house or as an investment opportunity, combining breathtaking views, authentic character, and development potential, all just a short drive from the cultural treasures of Orvieto.
